CORRELATION BETWEEN MUSIC AND AGRICULTURE

Veteran music star, Fasasi Olanrewaju , a.k.a. Sound Sultan, will lead artists to perform at the second edition of the United Nations music concert for food on 2nd December  in Lagos. The concert is aimed at encouraging more Nigerians, especially the youth, to embrace Agriculture and the production of more farm produce for the people. The Oxfam ambassador‎ said that Vector, Seyi Shay, Small Doctor and other musicians would join him to promote the importance of agriculture to a nation like Nigeria. 

‎The Jagbajantis crooner went further to say that they would be using music and entertainment as a medium to attract the public and youths in particular to be more involved in Agriculture.‎ He emphasized that It is also to change the wrong perception among Nigerians that they cannot become wealthy by practicing agriculture.

AY AND OMONI OBOLI SET TO MAKE HOLLYWOOD DEBUT

Comedian AY Makun and actress, Omoni Oboli, will make their debut in a Hollywood animation film, “Elliott: The Littlest Reindeer”. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the characters AY and Oboli voiced in the film scheduled to premiere on December 14, remain unknown. The Christmas-themed film also features Hunger Games star, Josh Hutcherson, Dead pool actress, Morena Baccarin, Jeff Dunham, Martin Short and John Cleese. 

The animation follows Blitzen- one of Santa’s sleigh-pulling reindeers- announcing his retirement on December 21, giving a miniature horse three days to fulfil his lifelong dream. The horse has to earn a spot-on Santa’s sleigh during the North Pole try-outs in time for Christmas Eve; Elliott and his friend Hazel set out to prove that no dream is too big if you believe in yourself. NAN reports that AY earned a Guinness World Record recognition for his 2018 film, ‘30 Days in Atlanta’ as the highest grossing film in the territories of Hollywood and Bollywood.

HOW TOP NIGERIAN ARTISTS FARED AT AFRIMA 2018 IN GHANA

Nigeria’s singers Davido, Tiwa Savage and Falz won awards at the 5th All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA held in Accra, Ghana Saturday night. Davido scooped Africa’s artiste of the year, with his album, FIA. He also won the best male artiste in West Africa. Tiwa Savage won West Africa’s best female artiste and Falz ran away with best African rapper award.  

Musicians from across the continent came to the Accra International Conference Centre in Ghana’s capital on Saturday to walk the red carpet and celebrate a year of big hits. Betty G from Ethiopia took home Album of the Year, while the Best African DJ went to Afrotronix, who has roots in Chad. Falz took home the award for best African rapper after courting controversy this year when he released, “This is Nigeria,” a cover of the Childish Gambino hit that skewered modern Nigeria.

“Akwaaba,” an infectious collaboration between GuiltyBeatz, Mr Eazi, Patapaa and Pappy Kojo won Song of the Year and Best African Collaboration. Nigeria’s 2Baba won the award for Best African Pop, and Kuami Eugene, a Ghanaian crooner, was named the Most Promising artiste in Africa. AFRIMA has carved out a space as a platform to showcase the innovative and prolific African music industry that has exploded in the past decade.

CHIDINMA LEILANI AARON IS MISS NIGERIA 2018

Miss Chidinma Leilani Aaron is Miss Nigeria 2018.  The 25-year-old lady is from Anambra State and she represented the South-East zone at the 2018 Pageant. She graduated with Honors from Leeds City University, Ibadan, where she studied Business Administration. Chidinma beat 17 contestants to win the Miss Nigeria 2018 title. REST IN PEACE TOSYN BUCKNOR

Nigerian media personality, actress and social media content creator Tosyn Bucknor is dead.  Tosyn, was found dead by husband, Aurelien Boyer, a French national, when he arrived at home from work on Monday night. Tosyn Bucknor of Inspiration FM OAP was aged 37. She was the only female radio presenter in Nigeria who handled a morning show by herself. 

Tosyn Bucknor is the mastermind behind One Mic Naija. Until her death she ran a podcast called “The Tosyn Bucknor Show” Tosyn Bucknor Bucknor a graduate of law from the University of Lagos, Tosyn was born with sickle cell anaemia which prompted her to start ‘These Genes Project’ to help people with the condition. 

In November 2015, Tosyn and Aurélien Boyer had their traditional wedding surrounded by family and friends in Lagos followed by a white wedding in France. The OAP, previously hosted the morning show at Top Radio FM. She started her OAP duties with Tee-A at Eko FM. She was also an intern at Cool FM where she hosted the ‘Fun Hour Show’ on Saturdays. Tosyn Bucknor joined Top Radio after her youth service in 2009 as the only female handling a morning show. In her lifetime, Tosyn Bucknor was nominated for several awards including Future Awards, ELOY Awards, and Best of Nollywood. Rest in peace Tosyn.
